The Difference Between Galvanic and Microcurrent

If you look up on the internet, there are many beauty devices using Galvanic and Microcurrent technologies. These technologies are the rising star in beauty industry and have caught consumer's attention. However, there has been some misinformation on the market of these technologies. some being promoted as microcurrent device when in fact they are galvanic devices! Some of you might wonder, what is the difference between Galvanic and Microcurrent? Let's dive into it.

The Difference in Application Method

Galvanic

Current type: Direct and constant

Current range : Milli Amps (mA)

Frequency: None

Therapies: De-incrustation iontophoresis

A device called Galvanic if it has 2 metalpoints at different location and it conducts the power to flow through wholebody.

Normally, Galvanic has a two-step facial treatment.

Step One - The negative pole is the one that is placed on the face first and the positive is the ground and placed on the body area for instance under the shoulder. The negative polarity is as the exfoliator after cleansing. The negative polarity utilizes alkaline solution known as the de-incrustation solution which is forced into the skin on the face to liquify debris, sebum and congestion in the skin. This is generally used as the exfoliation segment of the facial. After thhe skin is washed, you can continue your skin care regime with some extractions and massage if desired.

Step Two - The second part to Galvanic treatment is the use of the positive pole. The positive polarity pole is placed on the face second and the negative polarity is the ground and placed on the body area for instance under the shoulder. The positive polarity is used at the end of the treatment after the hydration mask. The positive polarity utilizes an acidic solution to hydrate and nourish the skin with the concentrated ingredients of the serum. The serum is placed directly onto the skin and the pole is rolled over the face for 5 minutes followed by a moisturizer and sunblock.

Microcurrent

Current type: Alternating Current

Current range : 175-1000 UA

Frequency: 0.1-680 Hz

Therapies: Skin-toning, softens fine lines,micro-lifting

A device called Microcurrent if it has 2 metalpoints that close to each other to conduct the power to specific part of thebody or skin.

Benefits Difference

Galvanic benefits

There are numerous benefits of a galvanic facial, including:

  • Improves the look of lines and wrinkles.

  • Helps with better product penetration.
  • Improves skin’s elasticity.
  • Detoxifies the skin.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent facials offer many advantages and are good for all skin types. The benefits include:

  • You get smooth and brighter skin.
  • It helps deliver the active ingredients of skin care products deep into the skin.

General Difference

Galvanic

Galvanic facials use electrical currents to firm up the skin so it is tighter and smoother. While they are also good forall skin types, they are especially helpful for people who have dry skin. The galvanic facial is recommended for people with dry, dehydrated skin, cloggedpores, dull skin, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles, and signs of aging. The main purpose of Galvanic Current is to force water soluble solutions deeperinto the skin. Galvanic Current is a direct and constant current that uses both positive and negative polarities and is measured in milliamps. There is no frequency on galvanic because it is a direct current.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent facials use light electrical currents to retrain the muscles to look firmer, and they are good for all skin types. Microcurrent is ideal for people who are looking for an alternative to injections and fillers, it helps soften fine lines and wrinkles, while firming and toning the skin by re-educating muscles. Microcurrent is different from Galvanic because Galvanic works with the chemical reaction of the solution and the current. Microcurrent works with 3 principals: correct wave form, the correct intensity for the area, and the correct movement.
